Yeah. You got a lot to learn about the corporate world. One of the first questions HR director has asked me is if it was someone of senior position to gauge company's liability.

Sad thing is, I am not dick enough to ruin the guys career because of that lack of boundary. Its construction industry, so their sense of humour is brash and knucklehead, but am still distressed as fuck.

So basically you are letting him ruin you instead of him. If you don't want to ruin his career give him a chance to settle it privately.  I'm sure a few months wages will sort him out and help you move on.
