Yes you are right it is not just about the US. However, last christmas supply was in plenty around the world (I did hear a few places in europe had shortage the last week before CMAS, but it was not a matter of not enough supply, just supply not in the right place). This year the PS4 will be a year older and as of now it does not have a super big game coming out in the fall. I think they will definitly need to cut the price or risk losing momentum. I think they cut the price in september to coincide with the Halo launch.

I'm not saying they WON'T reduce the price, I'm saying they'll do it only if they need to. I have a feeling that momentum alone could sell the PS4 at Christmas and as much as 'some' people like to pretend Sony hasn't got any games for Christmas, they have. I think we're more likely to see something like a The Order/Bloodborne/TLOUR bundle IF things are starting to slow down.

even the almighty PS2 which quadrupled its compition combined had a pricecut before its 3rd CMAS. Sony has finance guys crunching the numbers right now.

((Potential sales $ from console sales) - (Potential sales $ of console sales with no cut )) times (average revenue per PS4 for games, PSN, etc)= If that number become a positive they drop the price(to the new price in calculation). End of story, or the CFO needs to be fired.
