Xbox may update their OS more often but i feel the Playstation updates are fewer but therefor more relevant as they bring more important features. Like updating recording from 30fps to 60fps, automatic screenshots for trophies or changing button layout for every game.
A lot of the xbox updates were involvent in making the OS better without kinect and increasing performance as they got rid of it
