I disagree with the claim the player has very little agency in the game. I felt adequately engaged with gameplay, even if there was a bit of handholding in parts. But I say adequately quite deliberately, it was adequate in many respects, which ultimately amounts to a simply adequate game, nothing great or amazing, just adequate. Evennwith graphics there were forced compromises.
Personally I find myself more and more looking for engaging characters and decent story than tight gameplay. It does appear that gameplay no longer holds my attention for long periods anymore. There is alot about a game I can forgive gameplay wise if the story and charactersnare engaging.
