No, it sold so well becasue the price was rigth from the start. A decade ago people were not paying $800 for a cell phone 500 for a tablet. Consumers are better conditioned to pay more now then ever, especially a product like a game console that lasts for years and is not constantly being replaced by new hardware.
99.99 is even more attractive lol.
