You don't need to move around more than you do already while playing on the couch.
I doubt there will be many games where you actually stand up and move about, unless it's in one of those fancy treadmill things. Walking about a room swinging your arms with a headset on is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
While sitting on the couch with a VR headset on you can
- Play racing, flying, or any type of game where you operate a vehicle, or mech.
- RTS games where you look over a battlefield from over head, like it's playing out on a table in front of you
Getting used to walking with a normal controller in VR won't take that long I suppose. Less natural than walking, yet I've managed to adjust from kb+mouse to controller for fps as well. Wasn't easy at first, now it's as natural as kb+mouse was before.
Even while sitting on the couch you still have all the freedom to look around. Duck, lean, limited hand movements to control things. Basically what it simulates is playing a game while sitting in an IMAX dome theater in 3D, but a bit less pricy.
