SNES has a lot of my all time favourite games so for me, the choice is clear. However Genesis is awesome in it's own regard. Sonic, Streets of Rage, Shining Force, Shinobi.... you really can't go wrong with either system.

I think if SNES big hitters go against Genesis big hitters, SNES wins easily.

Big titles aside, Genesis had some very innovative exclusive titles, a lot of which are not even that known.

Sega was also downright bonkers when it came to experimentation... Things like having to actually reset the console to reach the last level in Xmen, or all the secret stuff burried in Streets of Rage 3, or making an awesome Batman and Robin game and pairing it with the craziest techno trance music soundtrack, or the whole Gusntar Heroes game.

Combine that with a slew of absolutely original games like the Ooze, Comix Zone, Splaterhouse series, Mutant league Hockey, Herzog Zwei, Landstalker...makes the Genesis a more interesting console to me.

Oh yeah that's definitely true about Sega throughout their entire history. I get what you mean too, Sega games especially from the 16 and 32 bit era seem to have been overshadowed or forgotten, which is really a shame. Sega was really a talented developer, expanding into many genres along with arcade games, overall not afraid to try something new. What's also nice about Genesis is I find the games are pretty cheap now a days compared to SNES, it's also easy to find the games boxed. So it's a good console for beginners to collect for and a lot of hidden gems to find!
