I think I would actually say no. The old generations I would have described them as toys, they were only made for you to "play" with. Today I would describe them as entertainment systems or something in those lines.

I could buy a console today and not play a single game, and still use them for other things. Watch movies, talk to my friends, listen to music etc. So even though the main part of the console is to play games, the whole box today contains so much more. Even the Wii U I would call an entertainment system.

Same with phones, their main function is to call or text people, but I'm sure that there are people that actually play more games on them than they actually call people. Still, they are phones, or smartphones.

Or perhaps everything is just part of the computer-family today?
