Lets forget about XB1 vs PS4 for just a second and go back to around 20 years ago (Yes you're that old, get over it)

SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive were in one intense battle, so my question is, decades later, which do you prefer?

I'm a pretty big Nintendo fanbay (most of you know that), but my answer is actually Genesis.

Since I have a GBA, most of the SNES classics were ported to it, like Mario World, Link to the Past, all 3 DKC games, Earthbound, and Super Circuit is pretty much the same as Super Mario Kart.

While most Genesis games I can't get anywere else, I also like Genesis's lineup better because I'm not really into RPG's, SNES's strong point.

But what says you?

not even close

The Super Nintendo game library is inifinitely better than the Genesis

way better selection of expansive adventure games such as DK Country and Mario World (something that the Genesis lacks entirely), a much stronger library of RPG games (in fact probably the strongest lineup ever for any console), a solid mix of puzzle/fighters/platformer games. The only think that the SNES really lacks is a lot of great shooting games

the Genesis is too one dimensional in terms of games. There's Sonic, yes, but beyond that just not many great franches. Their fighting games are their strong point obviously with Streets of Rage and various others. Lot of great Japanese shooters for this system as well, although many are rather obscure at this point

SNES has a much superior controller. could argue the Gen has better system design, but specs wise it's not as good overall

the reality is pretty much anyway you cut it the SNES is better. a lot of this has to do with the systems library and not only did Nintendo hold onto so many strong 3rd parties from the NES era, but they also released arguably their best 1st party games of all time in DKC and Mario World
