Games are a relatively new medium. Movies, for example, took inspiration from stage acting since they made their first debut. They realized they could edit them, add effects and so here we are now.
Games started to replicate the same experience since... Well. They first had voice acting and enough space for elaborate cutscenes.
Everyone seems hell bent on the definition of "video game", and the discussion sometime goes to shit because the criticism is coming from the Internet.
