The word has been abused by developers and gamers alike. Yet I can't help but feel he's being awfully dismissive of the quality of those games. But he made his point.
Stories in games have always had a B-movie like quality. However, they're still pretty much enjoyable because the player is more than invested in the game. MGS for example has a very campy story! Maybe it's hard to tolerate something that takes its self way too seriously with a lot of short coming for more than 10 hours.
