The inspiration from the old xmb is apparent in the new UI on PS4. Its a natural evolution and it looks great, but its hard to deny similarities. Why Sony would want to distance themselves from the XMB by changing its name I'm not entirely sure. The old OS was crazy fast and responsive and as far as I know was generally well received. Still, the new one is an all around improvement as far as I'm concerned but it's definitely inspired by its predeccesor
