...Or for that matter, what is even a Nuzlocke? That acorn pokemon from Ruby/Saph., right..? That`s what I thought at least for awhile...

Spoiler: It`s Nuzleaf! O:

Anyways, Cloudman here. Recently, the Pokemon Starter Elimination Game by Uran10 has ended with Typhlosion taking first, and I was actively participating in that B-) So with that over, I wanted to follow it up with something pokemon related. Not sure if this has been talked about before, but I wanted to bring up the Pokemon Nuzlocke Challenge.

Now, I`m sure most pokemon fans and people who play games know about this challenge, but for the few who don`t, I`ll run through it. There are only 2 to 3 basic rules that go with the game. But first, pick the game you want to try it on. Any version is fine : ) Next, follow to rule #1!

1. You may only catch the first pokemon you encounter in each new area you explore.

Every route, town, cave, or whatever you enter, if you see a patch of grass or water to enter, whatever pokemon you see, you can only catch that one. If it`s stupid like dunsparce or spinda, well, too bad. You have to take it or leave it. Also, if you kill it, you`re also out of luck. You don`t get 2nd chances. So with only so many pokemon you can catch, you have to make sure you don`t burn through your team members quickly, or else you man have a small team, which brings us to rule #2!

2. If your pokemon faints, you must release it. It is dead...

That`s right, it throws a Fire Emblem permadeath to a pokemon game, of all things! So when you train your pokemon all the way til falling, you can`t do  that anymore! You have to be careful with every match you face. Things can go even wrong when you`re just training. The life of your pokemon can hang on a thin line of getting hit by a critical or an unexpected super effective move from your opponent. So you have to be extra careful with how you approach battles.

And that`s it! Just 2 rules! The 3rd adopted rule is to name your pokemon. It give a better attachment to the few friends you`ll make on your journey and makes the loss all the more painful when you lose your trusted starter, or that faithful Hoothoot you met in the beginning.

If that`s not hard enough, there are extra added rules you can add to make it more challenging, but for starting people, just the first 2 or 3 are fine.

Has anyone ever tried it? I sure have : ) Better yet, I blind Nuzlocked X and Y, and what an adventure I had. I made great companions with new pokemon in the beginning, only to lose almost all of them to the unexpected fight with Korrina and her Lucario team. In this tough moment, I made an unexpected bond with Johnny the Mr. Mine, who I thought nothing of and had bitter feelings toward, but then became one of the leading members in my team at the end. Sadly, him, and all my other friends were lost in Victory Road, where only 2 pokemon stood by me for the Elite 4 and beloved Flygon lost to the dragon trainer, due to rough skin... : (

So yeah, share your stories if you got any, or if this is new to you, do you want to try it? : )

Next, I will Nuzlocke Omega Ruby... : D
