that reminds me i hated the underwater section in metal gear solid 2! took me forever the first time back on the ps2. it's easy now because i know the whole game off by heart but at the time ARGGGGHHHH!!!
Another was medal of honor frontline. quite a bit into the game there was a level where you had to get through a shit load of enemies in the middle of the city and i could never do it. and if you died you had to restart the whole thing. i actually never completed that game and me and my cousin tried so much.
