I'm comparing Sonic Boom to Sonic 4 (a cheap digital download game), not Call of Duty. Hence, Sonic Boom had a big budget compared to most digital download games.

Sonic 4 was likely cheaper to make, sold at a lower price, more enjoyable, and less risky. That's the kind of stuff I want from Sega.

The problem with Sonic 4 was exactly that it was too small. Both episodes came out feeling like unfinished games.

I'm not going to disagree with you. Frankly, Sonic 4 isn't even that good. But I certainly had more fun with Sonic 4 than most of the bigger budget retail Sonic games.

The handheld (GBA and DS) Sonic games that are 2D platformers have also been well received because people just prefer when they stick to the classic gameplay. People loved the Sonic levels in Sonic Unleashed but hated everything else. It boggles my mind why Sega doesn't just give fans what they want.

I agree. I really loved episode 2. I just wish it had more levels... and less of the team up attacks i suppose. Though the one to swap to tails and prevent pitfall deaths was quite handy. Just the big rolling ball wasnt so interesting.
