Well yeah once gaming interferes with your work, relationships, and life in general it's overboard, but I think 95%+ of people here maintain a good balance and do gaming as a hobby/competitive thing to do off-time.

What is the exact difference between gaming all day and playing soccer all day? One is seen as "demonic" or a "waste of time" by ignorant/misguided people and the other is seen as a fun, socially acceptable way to spend a Saturday. The only difference is perception by others.

Playing football could bring benefits for your health. Playing video games don't add absolutely nothing, nor quit, at least if you have a balance.

However, playing any of the two things all day is dangerous equally.

Okay technically true. I guess I should have said playing guitar or something less physical.

I think balance is key like you're saying and a large majority of people here have that. I read about family life, love life, interests in sports, politics, religion, TV, social issues, music, and so many other aspects people here have with their own lives. I hate that video games gets all the criticism and condemnation as a scapegoat for time wasting when it factors way beyond that. Condemning all video games and telling us all to give them up doesn't address the imaginary issue and that is what bugs me about op.
