The Wii never did anything to save gaming, the PS2 made gaming mainstream long before the Wii did.

PC gaming is different from console gaming. Gaming wouldn't have become as mainstream as it has now without the NES and Super Mario Bros.

The PS2 appeals to a different audience than the Wii did. PS2 if anything re-enforced stereotypes about gamers. Wii opened it up and made it truly mainstream, at least from 2006-2010.

The PS2 appealed to a broader audience than the Wii did, that's why it got 150m+ sales while the Wii was only just over 100m. PS2 was mainstream, Wii was just hardcore Nintendo fans and casuals.

*forgets the fact it was also a cheap dvd player which is the main reason millions bought it* :P

ps2 didnt really expand the market much(mostly ps1 owners and people who needed a cheap dvd player)
