the port wasnt bad, but the game just doesnt fit console controlls.

halo wars is a realy well made console RTS, but its still not realy good if compared to the big PC rts.   BfME2 was just crap.  the IP is just poorly used and Wc3 and Total war mods use the IP a lot better.

i dont think there is a market for core RTS on console, its a tiny market, that doesnt buy much of games, but wants a lot, like modsupport and good working servers.   casuals may buy some RTS, but i dont think it will be a big market, casual RTS arent a thing because you cant dumb don the concept enough to make it interesting for more than 2 hours...

I don't remember Battle for Middle Earth 2 being bad, from what I remember it was pretty good. It apparently got an 84 meta on PC and a 79 meta on 360, so critics seem to agree with me. Of course I don't have much to compare it to, the only RTS games I've played are AoE 1, 2, and 3, BfME 2, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and Stronghold Crusaders, all of which I enjoyed. I've never played Starcraft, Warcraft, or Total War.

I don't think there's a huge market for RTS on consoles either, but it's extra sales for Microsoft and gives them some more games to add to the Xbox One/PC crossplay list. I think they'll sell decently though, Halo Wars sold 2.5m+ on 360, I wouldn't be surprised to see Halo Wars 2 pull similar numbers on XB1, and I could see AoE 4 selling pretty well on XB1 as well.

There is no way they could make a RTS crossplay.  they dont dare to make a fps crossplay, and FPS is much bigger on console.
