While not the main reason I don't play fighting game (I enjoy them but I can't get into them for more than 20 minutes before getting bored) this is a really strong point.

I went to a fan hosted Smash tourney once. Never again. 

Unfortunately, this seems to happen in every fandom.

You're right there my man, everything's got it's fair share of unbearable stooges. It's just some take it too far.
