This is a good longterm decision for Blockbuster. If neither format wins, they'd be looking at stocking three different versions (Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, DVD) of almost every movie, which is an operational nightmare. One decisive high def format is what Blockbuster needs, and I think they realized that and realized they needed to make a move now, though they really should have done it a while ago.
