If I were taking things personally, we wouldn't be having this conversation.  I'm simply pointing out that you are one person, my friend Nate is one person.  Neither of you represent the actual average, and neither your nor I, can actually prove any of it.  To assume most are like you, is in fact, downplaying the numbers, and appropriately 'doom and gloom'.  It's far from logical to assume you represent some kind of average, without any shred of evidence to back up that assertion, any more than it would be logical to state Nate represents the average.  You're merely two opposing ends of the spectrum, logic dictates the actual average rests somewhere in between.
