Sexual themes if you're wondering can absolutely add to game.
MGS3 Is a postmodern achievement that pays homage to the spy genre, James Bond to be specefic. Those movies are famous for having a promiscuous masculine figure and women that engage him and his casual misogyny poorly disguised as "jokes". They still got tossed to the side, literally at time. Those things were ok for their time and it's more subtle and funny than I'm making it out to be.
Eva takes the role of the female spy in a game that is riddled with 007 references. She tries to seduce and flirt with Snake but he constantly refuses her and that leads to some hot, awkward and funny fan service scene. This purposely frustrates the player who is aware of the power fantasy James Bond movies and other games and movies of the time. She survives the climax along with Snake but betrays him in the conclusion of the story. Snake, the main protagonist, doesn't say a word in the melancholic last half hour cutscene yet the only person that talks in it is Eva (the most sexualized figure in the game). She then explains everything that was kept a secret from Snake, and by extension the player through a recorder. This emasculates to the most manly figure in the game as it ends with him shedding a tear saluting his female mentor's grave.
Bioware also give you a sex scene as a reward for engaging with the characters. But to be fare the dialogue and writing is great so you want to engage with the other characters and play their side missions even if you're only banging one of them.
