KI has a VERY strong community and new people come all the time. Its not exactly free to play either. You only get one character free. All i know is that millions of people have downloaded killer instinct, that it has been the most downloaded game pretty much since launch of xbox one (Ken Lobb source), and that it was very successful, so much so that its why theyre bringing other old IP back like Phantom Dust.

As KI is my favorite game of this generation i can assure you the community is big, loud, and the game is very successful. If you havent been hearing much on KI then you havent been looking in the right places because theyre is announcements weekly on it and new characters are released every month. Season 3 has pretty much been confirmed by this point too. Easily the best fighting game ive played in years. Its also going to be at EVO again this year
