I was born in 1994.
My mother wanted an SNES when she was dating my father in the early 90s, so they each chipped in half to get it (she said it was $100 at the time) -- I played a lot of Donkey Kong Country with my mother growing up on the same SNES. My mother stopped playing games as they progressed (for the most part, she loves Animal Crossing for instance); becoming 3D and introducing more complex control schemes.
The game that truly got me into gaming was Pokemon Red with my yellow Gameboy Color (not the Pokemon version). Everybody played Pokemon back then. My friends and I used to climb trees and sit on the branches and play Pokemon. My parents bought me and my little sister a N64 in probably 98 or 99; I played a lot of Pokemon Stadium, Super Mario 64, Star Wars Ep. 1 Racer, Donkey Kong 64, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
My first foray into JRPGs and strategy game was on the Gameboy Advance. I played each Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy 1 & 2.
Afterwards my interest in gaming exploded and I would come to own every major system at some point or another. My favorite 6th gen home console was the PS2, my favorite 7th gen home console was the 360, and the jury is still out on my favorite this gen, but so far it's either Wii U or PS4.
