I would wait for the first revision which is an easily/inexpensive fixed on the hardware side.

Did I miss an announcement? If not then there will not be a revision. The 970 is designed how it is for a reason. It's a deliberate design and not an error. They will not change it because if it was easy they would've designed it differently in the first place..
