If he wanted to toss it to the curb rather than fuck it would you give it more credit?

It's not about credit. Showering a game with so much praise and zero criticism is as uncomfortable as just hating on a game.

It's definitely an unusually well rounded title, but yeah, when analysing a console game you should always at least acknowledge the compromises necessary to achieve its accomplishments (regardless to if they are design choices, positive or negative).

DF just put up their full tech analysis if you want to read it: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-the-order-1886-tech-analysis

I liked NX's video, but i feel DF's (new) article is better well rounded.

Anyway, 1886 has me pretty exited for the future. By the end of this gen these types of visuals (or something relatively close, depending on scope etc) should be possible without it being the central focus. That would be awesome '_'

While I'm not as optimistic about the progress during the gen I at least hope the cinema format does not catch on.

it's a great way to boost performance and visuals without sacrificing clarity. Which I think makes it pretty enticing for devs. But it feels like an unnecessary bandaid that sacrifices precious screen space.
