I started with the question "what publisher other than Nintendo could single-handedly float a console/handheld"... then I realized the big options and shattered a little inside.

Nintendo can not single handly float a console either, unless by "float" you mean be outsold by a tremendous amount. The Wii was the only competitive Nintendo console in ages and it had 3rd party support, Sony or MS could do just as well by their self.

 

Now for the original question, I would go with EA, Battlefield and Bioware :)
