They worked on this game for about four years, no? You quickly get to $20m+ in development costs that way, and as a rule of thumb, the marketing budget for a AAA game is at least the same value as the development budget (in extreme cases like Call of Duty, it's easily multiple times more). Don't mix my troll posts with serious ones because nothing good comes out of that. The length of the game doesn't mean that it was cheap to produce. They focused on graphics and cinematics, so they needed a lot of artists to create the world and its characters, plus extensive motion capturing work to make things as life-like as possible. This approach to game development is incredibly costly when put in relation to the amount of content that results from it. |
To be honest its hard for me to tell when your trolling or not. Back in the day you were way more obvious when you did it. Much more subtle these days.
1. What % of the game sales do you think they take, I spitballed 50% not idea if that is accurate. And in this case it does not matter what sony takes because they invested in the game so they would be collecting the part of the budget they spent.
2. I have not seen the budget for this game, but I think Ryse would be a good comparison- simililar length similiar graphics. We could even use TLOU budget and work backwords from that (no way this cost more than TLOU).
