Metacritic uses Weighted average. While we don't know the exact formula, we know that sites without traffic or credibility worth very little to the Meta Score.

Even if you don't consider them, the score would hardly go up really. The thing will almost always follow IGN (6,5), GameSpot (5.0) and other big groups.
