I don't know about that. Word of mouth plus so-so reviews killed Titanfall's sales. If a game that is THAT hyped can fall victim to internet rage, then any game can. 

Titanfall has sold a total of 4.24 million copies, only one WiiU game has sold more than that so far.

Might wanna find a better example.
