Peter might have overpromised and underdelivered on a lot of occations, but this is just being a pure asshole against him. You can ask people out on mistakes without being a dick. |
I'm sure child molesters and murderers are treated with more respect from interviewers than Molyneux did, so yeah, you're right, he should be glad he made it out alive.
I also think he was a point. There's a difference between lying and what he does. If he says, "when the winner/backer came I spent hours talking to him, I showed him this and that, we went bowling" etc, then yeah that's a lie. But overpromising and underdelivering is not the same as lying. I work in Academia and I've gotten several extensions for my PhD. Every time I ask for a two month extension I truly believe that that's the time that I actually need. And then I end up getting another one. I've spoken to several lecturers in my department and they all tell me the same thing. They tell the publishers they will be done by x time and end up needing another year or more. They're not consiously lying, they're underestimating the time they need to finish something. Also, telling a publisher, "well, give me 5 years just to be sure" won't get you any deal. You have to promise what seems to you doable.
Also, he has a point about the making of book. How exactly are they supposed to give that to backers if they haven't even finished making the game?
