Seriously, i've always wonder this. Even months after a game has been released it still maintains it's release price, and even if it does fall it only falls by like $5.

Like WWHD which is $50 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Waker-nintendo-wii-u/dp/B002I0GF72/ref=lp_4924901011_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1424212423&sr=1-5

Or Tropical Freeze which is still also $50

And unless no one has noticed the Wii U isn't exactly in the best position.

They fall in Japan..

WWHD - Originaly $52, now $38

In Ito Yokado and Aeon malls, theyre both around $34, new, too.

The reality of it is, outside of japan, Nintendo pretty much never officially drop the price of their games, so resellers for used games leave a heft markup on used games, and really, who is going to pay $45 for a 2 year old used game you can still buy new for $50?

The key to that is, especially for third party games, if one consoles games cost more than the other, the user can go with the other console, so the xbox and playstation are competing for potential users in their pricing, where nintendo isnt, if you want to play mario and dont like the prices, its tough shit for you, if you want to play call of duty and you dont wanna pay $45 for the ps4 version, you have the option of buying the xbo version for less (if being sold for less at the time)

Simply put, Nintendo surviving primarilly on their first party offerings puts nintendo in a position to extort their users who have no other options if they want to play nintendo games,.
They shaft you on price because they can.

Likewise, exclusive games for PS/XB usually hold their value much longer than third party offerings, for much the same reasons, the difference being that once the sales start to dip theres much less of a reason to maintain that cost, as similar experiences are being released more frequently, on both platforms.
