They don't bring out sequels and Nintendo likes to create the illusion that there is some sort of plateau they're on. Really it's so they only have to pay to develop one game while reaping near full price benefits the entire gen. That's the reason they were profitable for 30 straight years they know how to milk the money and manipulate public perception
