Fallout 3 will be a good game. But it wont be a good Fallout. I want to play fallout. Not Oblivion with guns. Their is a difference between changing gameplay dynamics and changing the soul of the game. Fallout was about freedom, consequences, meaningful dialogue, great storylines, dark humor. People always mention child killing because it illustrates a point. Its the personification of what fallout is. Its a gritty dirty and sadistically funny game. Removing that and replacing it with superficial choices etc (lets be honest bethesda games have never been about choice, don't let the large world fool you). The point about mario said earlier defiantly rings true. If they stopped making mario galaxy style games and replaced it with a violent FPS you'd all be crying about it. Making Mario disgustingly violent changes what mario is. Conversely making fallout less violent, less gritty, less funny etc is changing the soul of the series. Us fallout fans aren't saying its going to be a bad game. Its just not going to be Fallout. Which is a crying shame.
BTW. To those people that say that it would be banned if it was made like it should be. I know it would be. which is a shame. BUt Bethesda should have thought about that BEFORE they purchased the IP. Fallout as an IP makes no sense for Bethesda. So instead of creating their own new IP they'r ruining a much beloved one.
