I don't think there are games that are too complicated. There are only shitty tutorials.

Kids these days with their tutorials!

/me is totally ignoring his ludology training which highlight Super Mario Bros first level as the ultimate tutorial, and his personal academic analysis of the first level of Super Mario World which reveals its execution of those concepts and was his first game as a kid.

Only if "Trial and Error" is your choice of tutorial. First level of SMB is pretty much all T&E. No explanations given whatsoever and you will die if you have the wrong assumption.

True, the game is designed so that if you assume the Goomba at the start wants to hug you, you'll learn it doesn't without being sent back any annoying distance because the encounter is at the start of the level. I mean if you've got a kid who is is gonna touch the stove at some point, you're gonna want to control them learning the stove is hot. I mean lets face it, sooner or later players need to learn the health-system, and sooner is better.

A truly genius design because you don't even realize you had your hand held.
