id like to point out that while the xbox one did outsell the ps4 in the us*, worldwide it never actually sold higher per month, so the gap has been increasing constantly.
its unlikely at this point that they can do anything to close the gap, just varying rates of slowing the gaps increase.

*for 2 months, but for 2014 PS4 sold the most by slightly over 400K.

Xb one will be $299, permanently, for this holiday, and because the US price can't be too far below the international price it means substantial price cuts for all other countries. The question is, does PS4 go to $299 or does it only got to $349 (and comparable price drops internationally)? PS3 started off way more expensive than PS4, but PS3 dropped to $299 in year 3. It is quite feasible for PS4 to drop to $299 in year 2. Even if they take a small loss per unit it would probably be worth it and Sony should be in a financial position to be ablle to take small hardware loss for a short period of time.
