Well I think Evolve is taking a beating not only over its own DLC practices and ruthlessly lacking base game, but also suffering the backdraft of other games with similar issues from last year, such as Titanfall and Destiny. People got burned by those games and I'm sure the moment they heard similar (to an extent worse) grumblings surrounding Evolve, they just said "nope" and went on their way. The game also had way to many variations among versions and alternative versions that could make consumers unsure which they should buy.
