SIXAXIS = Motion Controls?

Technically, sure. But it doesn't really compare to the Wiimote exactly. I'm not sure of it's entire inner workings, but merely the shape of the controller would make it unweildy for a lot of applications.

Anyway. It would really depend. Do you mean that if they had brought the controls out first? Taken the Wii approach with the controller? Or do you mean tacked it on as an afterthought. (a la Sixaxis.)

I think if Microsoft had brought it out, it would've been seen more as alienating it's user base. I think the Xbox has a bigger amount of sheer 'core' gamers, merely because Sony's had a lot of mainstream success with the PS1/PS2, so they have more casual players to dilude those percentages. So, unless the controller was just using the pointer function for a lot of FPS/Shooter type games, I don't think it'd of gone well for MS.

Sony on the other hand, could've gone a Wii route with their console. Instead of pushing for the higher end graphics, they could've made a boost in power from the PS2, made their system run about 299, and gone for a Wii approach. They couldn't have pushed Blu-Ray at the same time, but their system would probably be doing much, much better than it is market-wise.
