The PS4 wasn't priced that aggresively, the fact its pouring in profits is strong evidence of that. In terms of profit there is always a balance between profit margins and sales, so its never a simple equation of higher price = higher profits.
Patcher must be talking about the US because there is no competition worldwide for sony to even bother lifting a finger. They will come first and make a profit without having to sacrfice either.
Back to the OP:
In regards to the Wii U, I'd say Nintendo don't seem to be in denial they're doing what they should do, making some money from the WIi U with software and satisfying the userbase. Whether they've learned that they need to target the core gaming market more effectively with a powerful system and robust social capabilities is something we won't know for another 2 years.
