Lot of mistakes in this thread al around.
1. Sony pictures is an American company. It is a subsidiary yes, but it can be bought by another american company. Just like how Sony Online Entertainment was just purchased.
2. Someone said Sony Music Entertainment is nothing. SME is the largest music publisher in the world. ANd currently holds the second largest music catalog in the world. If it was meant that Disney has no interest in music, that is incorrect. They launched justin timberlake, jessica simpson, britney spears, ryan gosling, christina aguilera.
3. Disney acquiring Sony Pictures would not make them a monopoly.
4. Someone said vgc is a website dedicated to speculations and parsed words and rumors. This is not true. VGC is a sales analysis site. Some people make it seem like they are really bad at it, but let's not take the bad examples and brand the site as a bunch of people pulling numbers out of a hat.
5. Someone said "sony pictures makes profit, aside from the interview". It's more likely that interview made more money overall than it would have by itself, and probably will profit in the end.
6. Disney COULD buy sony pictures and be fine. It's just a risky venture. Disney is really efficient. Sony pictures is not. If Disney wanted games, they would be more apt to buy a similar company like nintendo.
