They were doing pretty in 04-06 because of the iPod already though. Back around 1997 though, yeah it looked like they were completely finished. 

Bet Microsoft really is kicking themselves for not just buying them outright back then, lol. Hell, even Nintendo could've bought them outright back then. 

Anybody with change under their sofa could have bought Apple in '97... :-p

Also... IMO Microsoft or Sony is not Nintendos biggest Competition... it's Apple... they have taken more customers away from Nintendo Last generation than Sony and Microsoft COMBINED (They beat Nintendo in an area where it was undefeated for almost 30 years: Handhelds).

Also this post just made me realized how out of touch I am with Mainstream shit...
