The problem with HL3 is at this point the hype for it will be almost impossible to live up to.
I mean, I wouldn't be suprised if Valve pulled it off since they have made some of the best games ever made in my opinion (Portal 2), but still it would be really hard.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they've gone through several versions of it already just trying to make it as perfect as possible. (This is just an assumption, I could be completely wrong for all I know).
