no it doesnt. there is still a metroid game released every 8 years. 

well going by that logic theres a mario game released every 8 years too...you cant just forget game to make your hypothesis work.  the only system to not get a metroid game was the N64 and thats cause they cancelled/moved it for the gamecube.
