They shouldn't even have to compromise on these machines. They're brand new. People's expectations were 1080p/60fps with vastly improved IQ and rightly so. I've said it before, but I really wish Microsoft and Sony had taken a hit on the hardware like they did last gen.

If Sony took another hit with a more beefed up PS4 it would have sealed their fate financially, if MS had done the same they would probably have been neck and neck with Sony and made it worse, MS share holders would have seen it more of a money sink and probably sealed with the same fat and Nintendo would most likely still be in the same position because it already happened with the Gamecube, all 3 of them made their choice to go with AMD because Nvidia was asking for too much, couple that in with the market change since the recession and the prices of hardware with two deals on the table, I can see they went for AMD because it would be less extreme on their losses.

Unfortunetly their downside to going with AMD means they have outdated weaker hardware that will become outdated even faster than last gen (the PS3 had the Cell which was amazing for it's time but wasn't fully tapped), we're only nearing 2 years in and we're seeing sacrifices left and right on most of the 3 in terms of resolution, FPS and textures. I feel that this gen there isn't going to be any of that "extra untapped power" to come save the day when it;s using the same x86 architecture as the PC's do.

I would hope though that this gen will be at least 5 years and that Sony,MS and Nintendo make sure their next systems properly 100% deliver a really good jump, they should totally take a hit by then if they can because I cannot see many willing to jump to another 3 systems that cannot do what they claim on the tin and they will surely take more of a loss if they go another gen sacrificing more and more.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
