Sony is also increasing production in a very popular single board PC...that now will have officially be supported by Microsoft as a windows 10 device!

Sony is creating 30 new jobs at its factory in Bridgend county as the technology giant quadruples its production to cope with the expected demand of a next generation computer.
It is taking on the extra staff at its Pencoed site after unveiling the new budget-priced Raspberry Pi 2.
The production rate will rise from 18,000 units to 80,000 units per week.
There are currently 70 workers at the plant.

"About 4.5 million Raspberry Pis have been sold since the board's release in 2012, and Upton expects to sell three million Pi 2 and model B+ models this year."

and

"The intention is you can take a Windows 10 application that you can run on Surface, PC, a Windows phone and now Raspberry Pi as well."

So, in reality (not video game fanboy fantasy land), Sony is actually doing okay for themselves.

Well let's see: selling off a part of the company that A: was making pretty much only PC games with Licence UP's for those iP's that cost Sony a large cost in cash, and than those very same Free 2 Play games did not reach the goals set for the investment COST's required to really get a larger return on investment.

B: while also employing 1000 developers with a pay out on AVG: $80,000 or more a year/developer.

Vs' only needing to increase by 30 workers, and shifting from what was 18,000 units/week to now 80,000 units a week, with each of those units geared to sell for a retail price of $35.00 per/unit

With now those units are now a windows 10 certified Computer to dev Windows 10 apps to boot, and the windows 10 is free to put on the unit for dev's to sign up.

Yea it was no contest...Sony was asked to trim down COST's and overhead to return to profit. Add in now the increase in 20000 wfr's/month in CMOS sensors for Sony's Fab plant that will be getting rather large order's by Samsung and Apple..yeah it was not much of a stretch to see which was going to be sold and which was not.
