Who knows other than the deal makers at both companies, hell it could have only been in the 10's of millions, who knows or it could be in the sale of upwards of in the hundreds of millions or even 2 or 3 billion, it depends on what someone is willing to offer or pay.
I would say in my opinion less than 500 million but not larger than 2 billion, I would not be very surprised if it was more than that though, it depends on how the company that wants to buy it is willing to part with such cash.
It was mainly for Sony itself, and most likely for the playstation section only getting the benefit of more focus on it as a viable investment increase where it makes further increase chance to increase profit without much further risk.
And pretty much Profit value is the main priority along with dividend's to get doled out to investor's again in short order is another on the list priority to be placed at the Top.
