I'm quite interested that Kojima is thinking to recreate the original MGS as an open-world game. However, I feel like he would waste an opportunity trying to remake an already remade game like MGS. I feel he should venture more on the older and more primitive games like Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. They could even expand on those stories.

maybe he could remake metal gear and include this in it. how does the time line go for metal gear 1/2 and MGS1?

If I'm not wrong, MG1 is 1995, MG2:SS is 1999 and MGS is 2005. Your idea sounds the most logic, but covering 10 years on a single game would make the game feel rushed.

the phantom pain is over 8 years plus. so it would definitely work. Metal Gear 1&2 would probably be short if remade. Same with MGS1. So maybe he could do a metal gear remake with all 3 of them included as the combined content would justify a full modern AAA game. It would be epic.
