There is no difference.
They pay Crytek to make Ryse. They provide development tools, pay for the development, marketing, etc. If they owned Crytek, it would be exactly the same.
I don't think many people here who criticize Microsoft for "not developing games" realize how much Sony does the same thing. No one really looks at The Order 1886 in the same negative way they'd look at Gears of War or Ryse.
