Nintendo is right by exercising their rights on their products. However, they don't understand modern gaming community.
Microsoft hired Max Dood to help them out with KI development (lore development); because they know Max drags a big community with him and that's their way of getting close to fighting game community.
Nintendo has the same attitude with their fans as the rest of Japanese publishers: they're clueless of Western gamers desires and needs.
