On my PSP I have 4 screen-mode-options: "Original" (black borders all around), "Normal" (black borders left + right), "Zoom" (upper + lower part of the picture are cut off) and "Full Screen" (wrong aspect). How do you place the positionto the left? The Vita has an additional "Custom"-mode, where you can zoom without steps in every direction by pinch gestures... you can minimize the black bars and adjust the aspect slightly to get your individual "perfect" setting. Upscaling a 320x240 signal to 272 pixel height ("normal" and "full screen") or to 480x360 (with the upper and lower part cut off) also doesn't work very well, upscaling a 320x200 signal to finer resolutions like 960x544 delivers much better results. And using a DS3 with the PSP is great, if you want to play the PS1 games on a TV... but PS1 games look like shit on a big TV, they look much better on the tiny screen of a handheld. How do you hold the handheld and the controller at the same time? |
With component cables PS1 games on HDTV looks decent, remember output is here in 480p, not 480i/240p, TV handles that better.
On any PSP maybe after FW 6.00 or something they added full screen PS1 video outputand the FIFTH option on screen mode, called personalized, to fine tune the screen, I press L all the way to reduce the screen to minimum, because you will notice the aspect ratio was wrong, was not wide enough, and then I press R to zoom in keeping the correct aspect ratio to the very borders of the top and bottom of the screen (adjust screen position with d-pad if needed) very big picture (especially in NTSC games, not sure) with correct aspect ratio. Also remember you can have TWO people play games like CTR, Team bBuddies....etc, one uses PSP GO (have cable) the other uses DS3 wirelessy. It is nice to have technical disquisitions some times Maybe you have old firmware on PSP, I have 6.20 and 6.60 in my systems. Anyway, the vita emulation is good, but no 2 players gameplay, not even with two vitas!,no DS3, no Video output, is not that great, maybe PS TV is the thing for me but the PSP GO can also connect to old top quality CRTs and the picture is very very good.
Happy gaming,
sorry everyone for my offtopic.
